Front Parlor The front parlor, overlooking the harbor, seems to be in homage to George Washington. Rembrandt Peale’s “Porthole Portrait” of Washington hangs above a French Empire mantel clock by DuBuc à Paris, featuring a gilt statue of Washington. A copy of Houdon’s bust of Lafayette, Washington’s close friend and ally, surveys the ensemble which includes French porcelain of the early nineteenth century. |
